Network Support Engineer

In this key role, you'll be responsible for the implementation, support & administration of the network infrastructure within Encompass.

You will also provide advice, guidance and network design expertise during project builds and for proposals put forward by the Technology Strategy team.


Principle Responsibilities:

  • To maintain, support, implement and secure the network infrastructure in line with the needs of the business and its clients
  • To maintain and backup all network systems and services
  • To secure all network infrastructure systems from potential harmful external attacks
  • To train and orient IT staff on use of network infrastructure hardware and software
  • Recommend and/or perform upgrades on systems to ensure longevity and business suitability
  • To work with the EDM Global IT team to provide an integrated and resilient WAN infrastructure that services the business needs.
  • To design/validate and implement the necessary network architecture to support new infrastructure deployments on the production network
  • To assist the Technology Strategy team with new architecture designs 
  • To manage and maintain the File Delivery environment (Aspera, SFTP, Signiant)
  • Monitor and rectify failures on all IT network infrastructures.



Knowledge and Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience supporting a LAN/WAN network infrastructure environment
  • CCNA certified
  • Educated to A level or equivalent vendor/industry standard
  • Proven experience of designing, installing and managing networks incorporating the following technologies:
    • ASA Firewalls
    • Cisco Nexus switches
    • Cisco UCS
    • FCoE/Storage networking
    • Multicast
    • Virtualization
  • Proven experience of installing and managing network security environments
  • Proven experience of liaising with vendors & clients to implement/support/resolve network infrastructure issues
  • Proven experience of installing and managing multi-vendor network environments
  • Proven experience of administering security systems.


Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of working in a media/broadcast environment
  • Experience of working with/supporting a Microsoft Hyper-V environment
  • Palo Alto/Fortinet firewall experience
  • Microsoft/AWS Cloud experience
  • Signiant
  • Solarwinds.

  • Friendly and approachable manner to deal with all network queries
  • Ability to explain IP networking concepts and protocols to staff outside of the IT team
  • Precise and logical approach to fault finding and resolution
  • Ability to prioritize tasks with other members of the IT team based on Business requirements
  • Thorough and detailed documentation skills
  • Must be able to work some nights, weekends and holidays as required
  • Required to be on call out of hours.
