Broadcast Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

Job Purpose:

Based at our Feltham Broadcast Media Centre, as Broadcast Engineer reporting to our Broadcast Operations Manager, you’ll provide engineering support for our playout, MCR and studios for Eurosport, Perform and other clients, in addition to working on system upgrades and new installation projects. 


It’s a varied role in a great team with lots of autonomy to identify improvements in services, and helping ensure all Arqiva studio facilities/equipment and systems operate to appropriate technical standards and are available for use continuously.


Further responsibilities:

  • Undertake fault analysis 
  • Replace equipment/systems and/or make temporary hardware/system changes 
  • Act as point of contact for building faults, air-conditioning, power, security systems etc.


ABOUT YOU

The Ideal Candidate:
With strong computing skills, including a good practical understanding of Windows OS and networking, you ideally have experience of both broadcast playout and supporting live studios. 


Your good working knowledge of SDI, AES, HD, Dolby and MPEG systems complements your understanding of current Health & Safety legislation, along with knowledge of digital broadcast techniques, terrestrial, cable, and satellite. 


You will also have experience of studio systems and a broadcast engineering background, ideally within a media company.


Further Knowledge & Skills:

  • Working knowledge of broadcast automation and workflow systems both for studios and transmission
  • Working knowledge of post-production equipment
  • Technical awareness of emerging technologies.


DETAILS

Permanent, Full-Time

Rewards: £37,000 - £42,000 + 20% shift allowance, bonus & comprehensive benefits.

Hours: The Broadcast Engineer role is on a shift rota: 7am-7pm and 2pm-2am on a 7-day per fortnight, including weekends.
