Rental Office General Manager - Film & TV Lighting

Lighting Hire GM across Film, TV, Commercials, Broadcast & Events.

ABOUT THE ROLE
You will support the Managing Director of Sales & Marketing ('MDSM') and to manage all aspects of the day to day running of the Company’s Rental Office whilst ensuring all decisions and actions are in accordance with Group policies and procedures.

You will also support the MDSM in improving all aspects of the performance of the Rental Office including:
  • The maximisation of revenue in terms of both equipment utilisation and revenue invoicing
  • Facilitate the development of a well-motivated and skilled Rental Office team
  • Manage all account handlers and rental office staff including HR related issues under advice from HR
  • Team building and improving productivity within the department
  • Improving Rental Office staff performance, especially attention to detail
  • Ensuring continuous, concise communication with other Departments
  • Be responsible for the employed electrician workforce;
  • Communicate with and lead the Rental Office team by example.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the overall performance and the smooth functioning of the Rental Office including the preparation and administration of rotas and shift cover; the management of all absences including holidays and sickness etc; monitoring staff performance; providing the MDSM with timely feedback on all issues and to take disciplinary measures where necessary, under advice from HR
  • Make informed and collaborative decisions to ensure that equipment is provided, as is reasonably possible, for other operations within the group including overseas operations
  • Manage sub-hire requests (inward & outward) and liaise with account handlers, operations & external companies
  • Be familiar with the company's rental software applications so as to monitor equipment utilisation, and including all software enhancements
  • Ensure revenue is maximised through correct and timely invoicing of our clients including managing all rental procedures and processes and taking action as necessary
  • Monitor, assistand encourage the timely turnaround of Rental office invoices and liaise with other departments to achieve the target turnaround date
  • Check weekend working charges
  • Recommend systems,process and administration improvements including recommending and participating in the development of new procedures
  • Ensure discipline is upheld at all times and to lead by example, including staff compliance ensuring duties and tasks are undertaken.
  • Ensure the smooth running of jobs and daily logistical needs and ensuring scheduling is managed effectively, in conjunction with the Operations Management team
  • Troubleshoot and assist with problem solving for the Rental Office team
  • Ensure that work is distributed on a fair basis across the pool of freelance labour
  • Monitor the follow-up of account handlers on pencils, leads and the turnround of quotes and ensure the fair distribution of workload across the Rental Office team so as to ensure prompt and efficient client response
  • Appointment and deployment of staff within the Rentals Office
  • Be the primary liaison betweenthe Rentals Office and Operations teams including job requirements and equipment needs/concerns
  • Ensure that crew working & driving hours are in accordance with Drivers Hours & UK legislation
  • Support Rental Office staff so as to encourage job satisfaction and allow them the opportunity  to express ideas and opinions
  • Clearly define performance measures and ensure that they are achieved
  • Manage daily Rental Office meetings and provide support and liaison with other departments.

ABOUT YOU
Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
  • Substantial management or supervisory experience preferably in logistics or service support industries in a client facing role
  • A high degree of computer literacy and proficiency with business software applications
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills with demonstrable leadership qualities
  • The proven ability to manage a small team of account handlers and administration staff.
