Promo Producer - BT Sport

The role of Promo Producer is responsible for the end-to-end production (conceptualisation, scripting, directing, producing and packaging) of promotional content for BT. 

Why this role matters

 

The Promo Producer will work within a team of Producers, enhancing the collective knowledge of on-air promotion guidelines, design, filming and editing techniques; all designed to promote BT Sport & BT TV’s content and navigate our viewers across our platform & portfolio of channels.


The On-Air Promo Producers are key members of the BT Creative team. Their primary purpose is to produce high quality On-Air Promotions, Marketing and Corporate videos which encourage consumers to engage, watch & subscribe to BT’s channels and television platform, whilst always striving for the best creatively to build a strong TV brand for BT.

 

What you’ll be doing


The role of Promo Producer is responsible for the end-to-end production (conceptualisation, scripting, directing, producing and packaging) of promotional content for BT. 


With a strong creative background and a good eye for what makes a compelling and attention-grabbing promo, this role will also be responsible for fulfilling BT TV’s contractual obligations with our respective rights bodies in terms of promotional material.


Role requirements:

  • A proven track record within the creative TV industry.
  • Strive for creative excellence when writing, editing & producing television promos that drive & raise conversations.
  • Strong creative skills and creative judgement.
  • A passion and knowledge for sport, music, films and TV.
  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • Work that demonstrates the BT TV & Sport promo personalities.
  • The ability to approach a common theme from a unique perspective.
  • A great sense for visuals, copy and music.
  • The ability to pitch clear and concise ideas to brief using good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Clear knowledge of the production processes, relevant tools and techniques.
  • Ability to self edit to an offline standard (AVID preferred).
  • Experience of dealing with contributors (actors, voice-over artists, personalities and presenters).
  • Ability to interpret marketing & programming strategy priorities in order to best deliver to brief.
  • The ability to generate original ideas for promotions and larger 360-degree promotional campaigns across multiple platforms.
  • Ability to work to tight budgets and deadlines.
  • Strong planning & organisational skills in order to manage projects.
  • The ability to be a team player who is just as happy to brainstorm with colleagues to the benefit of their work as they are to work independently.
  • Client / audience focused.
  • Sound editorial and compliance judgment.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to establish and maintain effective working relations with a range of internal and external contacts.
  • The resilience to sustain performance when under pressure from a high volume of work and conflicting priorities.
  • The ability to demonstrate initiative and work flexibly and independently.
  • Manage the storage of content and projects on the AVIDs.
  • Advise & support freelancers about systems within the On-Air Department.
  • Keep up to date with their work’s associated music returns.
  • Comply with the regulatory, fair trading and competition rules in line with OFCOM guidelines.

 

We’ll also need to see these on your CV:

  • Relevant Promo or Production experience.
  • Excellent script writing skills.
  • Experience and proficiency in directing talent.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Experienced user of editing systems as producer/directors.
  • Self-operate editing to offline standard (preferably Avid).
  • Able to work in a focussed manner within a fast paced environment.
  • The ability to conceptualise and storyboard ideas and deliver completed on-air promotions for transmission.
  • Experienced in planning and directing shoots as well as proven experience in directing live action.
  • Producers should have some operational experience or practical awareness of working within regulatory guidelines, particularly OFCOM.
  • Similarly, an awareness of Health and Safety Codes of Practice in TV production environments would be an advantage.
