Music Editor - German Speaking
We're now searching for a talented Music Editor to create great playlists for music listeners in Germany, Austria and Switzerland

You'll need prior experience in music programming - plus fluent German.


Key responsibilities:

  • Pitch, create, and optimise editorial features across a wide range of genres in tune with user interests
  • Contribute to the improvement of back catalogue selection and metadata quality
  • Identify and drive co-promotion or cross-promotion opportunities with internal and external partners
  • Conduct metrics-based analysis of playlist performance and provide recommendations for enhancing their effectiveness
  • Support partner and technical teams to troubleshoot user-facing issues
  • Work with Engineering to ensure all titles in programming plans are ordered and ingested
  • Participate in regular meetings with content partners, in order to identify editorial opportunities
  • Contribute to client's global editorial team and its efforts to drive site improvements and innovative features on behalf of users worldwide.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Create, commission, and QA playlists
  • Maintain client's editorial calendar for a German audience.
  • Data entry for monitoring performance of playlists and campaigns.


About You


As a Music Editor, you are a self-starter who will ramp up quickly to contribute to our client's Music editorial team. 

You have experience working as a playlist curator, music journalist or critic, or editor for a digital music service. You are well-versed in the music -- from mainstream to niche genres -- and popular culture most relevant in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH). 

You are a music expert, but are also able to understand and program to the interests of an average music listener in DACH.

Additionally, you bring strong analytical abilities and impeccable oral and written communication skills. You possess a high degree of comfort and flexibility when working cross-functionally with product, design, marketing, engineering, and other teams to develop an innovative user experience. 

You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively to develop new ideas and scalable processes. You bring a proven ability to prioritize, meet critical deadlines, and take on challenging tasks with enthusiasm and a problem-solving mindset.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BSc required
  • 2-3 years in an editorial/merchandising role for a mobile or online digital content business
  • Ability to speak and write in German and English fluently and idiomatically
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the music industry and Germanic culture.
  • Strong editorial and creative skills -- ability to craft messaging and work with design and production resources to drive creative execution
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to analyze research or performance data and apply that analysis to optimize our editorial strategy
  • Experience working with both external and internal partners on co-promotion or cross-promotion strategies and campaigns
  • Knowledge of and experience with online best practices
  • High attention to detail, ability to maintain several different projects simultaneously, while creating precise and effective customer-facing communications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MBA/MS) a plus
  • Experience working for a music streaming service
  • Expertise on German Hip Hop a plus.
