An opportunity to devise and implement strategy for the News Channel of a major Media Group in CEE.

 

Based: UK with regular travel

6 months with the possibility of further extension. 

Background


Our client is a leading Eastern European channel group which already enjoys huge success in the very competitive local market.

 

They are now looking for a UK based senior news executive with a track record of running a significant sized news operation and who can advise on a variety of operational and strategic areas, to make the operation more efficient.

 

This individual will look at the current news output focused on TV with online as a 2nd priority, and will advise on reshaping the business to take into account a more international approach to news coverage.

 

The Role


Reporting directly to the CEO, the Executive Consultant will advise on all aspects of the news operation, analysing the current processes, defining key improvement areas and producing a clear roadmap on how to implement changes.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating current news coverage and advising on potential inconsistencies with the news industry standards and best practice
  • Evaluating news department organizational structure and key news production processes and advising on efficiency improvements
  • Act as a coach to the Head of News department supporting the change effort in bringing the news department to a more international coverage approach
  • Advise on best practices and trends in news coverage.


This role will be based in the UK with frequent trips overseas.

 

Additional resources will be available on a project by project basis. There will be an initial 6 month contract with a possibility of extension.

 

The Candidate


The Candidate will have a wide range of experience in broadcasting, digital media, management, human resource development, global media strategy, program production, news gathering, and news production.

 

They need to have a strong track record in editorial content development and a high level of integrity. They must also have knowledge of the political landscape in the CEE region.
