Camera Technician - Senior-Level

Shoot Blue is a leading, London-based rental house supplying cutting-edge digital cinematography cameras, lenses, grip and lighting equipment to the film and television industry.

We are currently looking for a Senior-level Camera Technician to join our busy and growing camera department.

About Shoot Blue

Established in 2008, Shoot Blue has an extensive hire portfolio of digital cinematography cameras and equipment. Our clients include film studios, television broadcasters, production companies, freelancers and creative agencies.

About the Role

You will be a key point of contact within our camera floor team and ensure that our camera equipment is prepared and maintained to the exacting standards required by our clients.

Appropriate systems and workflow training will be provided to the successful candidate. We are a growing business and you will also have the opportunity to progress so that you can develop new skills, experience and responsibilities within our company.

This role demands attention to detail, a high level of interest in camera technology, and the ability to work well within our team. We believe in providing exceptional customer service and you will be motivated to share this commitment with us.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that our camera equipment is maintained, tested and presented at the highest possible standards.
  • Responsibility for ‘front-line’ service checks and maintenance, including firmware updates and preparing technical reports when equipment is damaged or faulty.
  • Providing in-depth technical support to camera crews and operators in person and via telephone when required.
  • Liaising closely with our bookings team in order to successfully coordinate jobs.
  • Keeping abreast on new camera technology and feeding back to management where appropriate on new developments to consider investing in.
  • Administrative duties, which will include collating booking forms, reporting damaged and missing items.

About You

Person Profile:

You may have already worked in camera rentals at a more junior-level, and are now looking to ‘step up’ and take on more responsibility. Equally, you may already be at a more senior level and are looking for a new, exciting challenge within an expanding rental house.

Some experience of working with film lighting technology would also be advantageous for this role.

What we require from you:

  • The ideal candidate for this role will have at least 3+ years' experience working for a rental house (or in a similar technical role, such as working as a freelancer in a camera department).
  • Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about all-things camera and lighting related.
  • Good interpersonal skills enabling you to both work successfully within our camera department as well as support our clients and visiting crews.
  • Be highly focused, have great organisational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • A commitment to providing excellent, customer-focused service at all times.

  • Our standard working hours are 09:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday but we will sometimes expect you to work outside of these hours, including early/late starts and finishes as well as the occasional weekend shift.
  • Salary for this role is negotiable and subject to skills and experience.
