Assistant Producer - BT Sport
BT Sport’s Football Department requires an Assistant Producer.

You will be working on live match and support programming across a portfolio of football properties, including the upcoming exclusive rights to the UEFA Champions League.
Why this role matters

BT Sport holds exclusive live UK TV rights to 42 Barclays Premier League matches as well as rights to the FA Cup, England Under 21’s, FA Trophy and FA Vase, Scottish Premiership, Scottish League, National League, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga football matches. BT Sport also has live and exclusive rights to the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

We are looking for someone with Broadcasting/Production/Programming experience (particularly on live outside broadcasts) and a real passion for football (or sport in general) to support our production team to deliver a first class product for our BT Sport customers.

What you'll be doing

BT Sport’s Football Department requires an Assistant Producer to work on both live match and support programming across its portfolio of football properties, including the upcoming exclusive rights to the UEFA Champions League.


The Assistant Producer role provides a range of support for a Producer and Senior Producer and typically plans, manages, implements, creates and delivers content for inclusion in programming. This role is responsible for the smooth running of day to day tasks such as; production of all or parts of assigned live or recorded studio shows and/or outside broadcasts;  assisting in gathering and producing elements for live and recorded programming such as: VT clips, graphics and research support.  


Where needed, the Assistant producer will manage a small team of junior-level media professionals providing guidelines and support for input into production process. May take direct responsibility for programming on occasion or be asked to take lead on a specific project.

Key Responsibilities

Working with their assigned Producer/s and Senior Producer/s the Assistant Producer will: 

  • Participate in developing concepts and content for assigned programmes, including; features, promos, graphics and all elements that reach BT Sport viewers
  • Be able to produce, edit and write scripts, teases, features, and other elements for live and recorded shows
  • Be able to cope with the demanding pressure of a live broadcasting environment at both BT Studios and on Outside Broadcasts
  • Provide story ideas to generate programme elements, from concept to executio
  • Pre-interview/ book potential guests for programmes
  • Have a familiarity and working knowledge of production related television techniques.
  • Through story research, scripting, filming, editing and audio recording processes create engaging content
  • Supervise edit sessions and audio record sessions
  • Liaise with relevant members of production team to ensure delivery of content to deadlines
  • Liaise with suppliers and 3rd parties, to ensure project tasks are delivered
  • Liaise with customer(s) where appropriate
  • Contribute to administrative tasks in production process
  • Contribute to discussions around new ideas and initiatives and changes to workflows to increase efficiencie
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

  • Education - Entry level qualifications or relevant experience
  • Experience of VT Coordinating both presentation and match replays
  • Relevant experience in Broadcasting/Production/Programming
  • A detailed understanding of the end to end broadcast process
  • Competent with technologies involved in production process
  • Knowledge of industry best practice and statutory regulations
  • A proven track record of scripting 
  • A detailed knowledge and passion for football/ sport
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to prioritise work-load to ensure programming delivered to deadline
  • Experience of working in live television environment
  • Previous experience of working ‘on-location’ unsupervised.
